Looking to get openvpn working on it, but the tun.ko that I have doesn't appear to provide the /dev/tun device when insmod is run. Looking for ways to fix this.

My name's Kelly. I have a MID7012. I found this forum by following a link from androidtablets.net while I was looking for information on how to root and install Android Market. I haven't rooted yet, but I'm thinking about it.

I'm using Android 2.3.3 and am interested installing custom ROMs, but I've never encountered ROMs that I've had to pay for up front. On my phone, I've been able to donate once I've tested the ROM and decided whether to keep it. Seems a bit hinky.

Good Day, my name is Adam, a while ago I bought a MID7015 tablet because it was cheap and it turned out to be very slow and laggy, I put it down, recently I was speaking with a friend who is into rooting and whatnot and I figured I could play around and maybe make it a little more nimble.

I've since rooted and installed CWM recovery
I've also upgraded to 2.3 using a gpad nand

I'm currently trying to restore the tablet with the new rom I picked up from here, with little luck.

Look forward to me bugging for info soon Smile

I've long had an iPad but the Kyros MID 7042 is the first Android tablet that I've had. I love its low price and its portability but I'm frustrated by the limitations imposed by its lack of access to Google Play and all the apps that are only available there. I'm hoping to learn from this forum how to root the tablet to make it much more versatile. I have very little knowledge about Android tablets and I'm concerned that I might brick the tablet in my attempt to root it. Before trying I want to gain as much knowledge as I can from this forum.

Hey everyone,

Just got my KYROS MID7022 for christmas and just decided to start modding it. I am not new to Android, actually it was a Apple 3G phone that pushed me owning a Dell Streak 5. And latter on I inherited an HTC Inspire 4G which both Android phones are rooted and running custom ICS and Jellytime roms from XDA. After some heavy research and looking at what I was going to use my 7 inch tablet for, I decided to pull the trigger on a German Kyros since they were getting JB early and I didnt feel like spending over two hundred dollars for something I was mainly going to use for music playback at work and ebook reading.

I have searched and searched all over for a sure fire way to root the Kyros and superone click does not work past step seven, waiting for device to respond. I have downloaded all the usb drivers for ADB and still cant root the device. I know I should stop at what I have, full Google functionality. But whats the fun in that, go all the way and root the damn thing. So back to my original reason for registering, does anyone know a good way to root a German market Coby Kyros MID7022-4G. All I see are root methods for GB. Any help wold be greatly appreciated and thaks for the welcome to the forums.

Hey there KTZers! My name is Shane and I am 26 years old. I have an associates degree in Computer science with a focus in network security. I love computers but I wish I had instead gone to school for electrical engineering or something. In my spare time I like to tinker with modding anything I can get my hands on. I do have basic programming knowledge in VB, perl, and python but I would like to learn java. I dont use linux primarily but am going to start again as I have forgotten how anything command line work thanks to Microsofts, silly, pretty interface.

My father had aquired 2 tablets running android 2.1 but had no idea how to use them. They are a Superpad 10.1 by InfoTMIC and a Kryos Mid7015. We spent a few hours trying to just get them set up but niether of them would update or connect to the goggle market. We were using a Verizon jetpack in a not-so-great service area. I tok these home and used my wireless network to try and get them working.I got the Superpad working pretty quickly and it is now working with the app market but it doesnt have much of a selection and I cannot get SlideMe market or GetJar on it as the broser crashes when it trys to download or the download just ends right after starting. The kryosneeded to be reset but I got it working also but it would not take the other app stores either. Both tablets discharge while the screen is off and if I turn off the wifi they stop working.

I found an update to android 2.3.1gb from a Gpad and it sounded like it would fix the problems. Now the screen comes on and goes out constantly draining the battery and the wifi setting crashes and eventually force closes. I did not root the tablets as I could not find an option for unknown sources. I have rooted my GS2 many times and am familiar with the android OS. Currently the kryos is on 2.3.1 and this site seems to be the go-to for kryos but I cant access anything here. Sad

I am new to the forum. I was directed here from androidtablets.net. I was attempting to find out how to install Gmail, Netflix and the Kindle app on a Coby Kyros 7015 that I acquired when a family member got a new tablet. I am looking to root it and update the OS, and anything else that I can do to make it work all around better.

Hi I have a coby kyros MID 7120, I am having problem with the menu key and return key they stay lighted and do not work. Also having hard time to connect to the internet, wifi is working but won't go to the network. should I do a factory reset and if yes how do i proceed ! thx in advance

I'm systems analyst by day, electronics tinkerer by evening, and caped crusader by night.

I found KTZ while looking for ANYTHING that would make my 7012 usable.

Do you own a KYROS?

I own a MID7012-4G. It spends most of its time in a box, gathering dust. I'm back to see if there have been any improvements for this cheap little tab.

I rooted the tablet many months ago and installed Coby's Android 2.3 rom, but it's not perfect. It's not great, either. pig

I think I'm still using the base Android recovery, but I'll be installing a better recovery soonish.

This is my first "real" tablet. If I had a time machine, I'd warn myself not to buy a 7012... after I killed Hitler with Oswald's rifle. Razz

I can offer some support to other users and help to track down issues. I have some coding experience, but I'm not very motivated to code for an obsolete tablet. Meh, who knows?

My hope is that there are some tweaks for reliability, usability, and maybe some entirely new roms that will give this thing some new life.

Hi. Got 2 Coby Kyros mid8217s from Germany. They are both running JB 4.1.1. One has a power leak which causes the screen to twitch. But it has Google Play. The other one, which I bought 2nd hand, has no technical issues, but it doesn't have Play.

I would like to root the tablets, but I can't find an easy way to root 4.1.1. I tried SuperOneClick and bin4ry's root kit (v18), but neither of them work. Hoping to learn how to do it the hard way. I've installed the driver on my PC and I can access the tablet with adb.

I've got some programming (Java, C++) and I know enough unix to get into trouble! I'd like to learn how to root and mod tablets. This looks like the right forum for me.

I've also got a fair bit of free time, so I'm keen to chat.
