I'm systems analyst by day, electronics tinkerer by evening, and caped crusader by night.

I found KTZ while looking for ANYTHING that would make my 7012 usable.

Do you own a KYROS?

I own a MID7012-4G. It spends most of its time in a box, gathering dust. I'm back to see if there have been any improvements for this cheap little tab.

I rooted the tablet many months ago and installed Coby's Android 2.3 rom, but it's not perfect. It's not great, either. pig

I think I'm still using the base Android recovery, but I'll be installing a better recovery soonish.

This is my first "real" tablet. If I had a time machine, I'd warn myself not to buy a 7012... after I killed Hitler with Oswald's rifle. Razz

I can offer some support to other users and help to track down issues. I have some coding experience, but I'm not very motivated to code for an obsolete tablet. Meh, who knows?

My hope is that there are some tweaks for reliability, usability, and maybe some entirely new roms that will give this thing some new life.

Hi. Got 2 Coby Kyros mid8217s from Germany. They are both running JB 4.1.1. One has a power leak which causes the screen to twitch. But it has Google Play. The other one, which I bought 2nd hand, has no technical issues, but it doesn't have Play.

I would like to root the tablets, but I can't find an easy way to root 4.1.1. I tried SuperOneClick and bin4ry's root kit (v18), but neither of them work. Hoping to learn how to do it the hard way. I've installed the driver on my PC and I can access the tablet with adb.

I've got some programming (Java, C++) and I know enough unix to get into trouble! I'd like to learn how to root and mod tablets. This looks like the right forum for me.

I've also got a fair bit of free time, so I'm keen to chat.

[ Hello! I'm from the Philippines. Bought my Kyros a few months back, locally from a shop that sells stuff coming from Australia. I know my Kyros came from there because the model is not available here. Or if it does, it has a different number, i think. Looking forward to getting info when trouble comes.

Hi, I'm a new member from Salt Spring Island, British Columbia (Canada)

My daughter was just gifted a Coby mid7015. Its our first tablet and I wanted to get it functional to download apps. I Rooted, installed CWM, and gapps etc. didn't connect so I decided to wipe/reset and totally screwed it up. I'll continue to look for the right thread here but I don't know if I can find it. Essentially I'm looking for the factory ROM with the modified for CWM tweak zipfile. I've been looking for days, and since Megauploads was taken down (which is the only link to it I've been able to find), I've had no luck. So hello, and please help me if you can, as I'd really like to put this together for her again.

Hi I am Delilah, I have a Coby Kyros and it is my first one. I have rooted the tablet and found this site on you tube and facebook suggestions have led me here. I want a better OS. I feel limited in the games it allows me to download. It says not compatible so I am searching for a better OS. I still am on android 2.1 I was looking for a tablet that everyone did not own, something other than the white i pad that so many own. It did not fit my budget and I like to hack things so if I brick the Coby it won't be a several hundred dollar mistake. I do like the Koby a lot. I presently own a Kyros 7035 that has been giving me some trouble lately it refuses to mount either the internal or external sd card so i was looking for some help in that area have not installed any recovery apps or none and i'm stuck i still have access to the tablet though and i can only install apps using an app pusher i found online. dont know how you can help me out but any help would be greatly appreciated any livesuit roms or anything that would give me back full functionality of my tablet would be much appreciated.

no , well i was on a wierd os called android vernet 2.3.3 i tried to install a gingerbread os using fwdn and something happened with the nand and now it stays on fastboot

I installed the clockwork cfw_coby_9742_4.0.3_0.1.img using livesuite.exe to get google play on it and my touchscreen got inverted. So I am looking for a fix .

Hello, I found you surfing forums cos I'm looking for rooting my device.

That is a clone from LAZER, Gingergread & 4 GB internal mass storage

I would like to use this mid 7012 clone by rooting it and instaling CWM Recovery and, if possible some custom ROM.

The touch screen is resistive.

Is not a bad device but i fed up of Getjar restrictions

I missed some info sry. The coby that I have has z4root with now custom roms. And it's equipped with 2.1. And I'm here so that I can hopefully get a custom rom without messing it up

Hi, I go by xanatos when binarystar is unavailable. Anyhow, I own a Kyros Mid7012, and frequent internet searches to my problems have led here. I have resisted until now (simply not to have another account) but this time I couldn't resist. A factory reset left my Kyros without a launcher, and it appears that the only way to restore it to its former glory is to install something (probably another recovery) through the android stock recovery, and install a new launcher. Honestly that's the sole reason I am here. I am quite desperate.

The main reason i'm here is because a friend bought two MID7035-4 for his children, but one of them is bricked. Since I've been using Android for a couple of years, I told him that I might be able to help him. So, searching around in Google, I found this site, which seems very promising.

Obviously, since its bricked,it's not rooted nor anything!

I am someone trying to help a colleague with his Coby 8127, which is very limited out of the box.

I've found ktz surfing the net. I am used to handle these kind of gadgets, now I finally found the one that makes me feel like a dumb.

I have made all kind of hacking in Ipad, Iphone, LGs, samsung, motorola, Nexus, etc. and right now, while writing, i have a bricked Coby in my hands.

Anyone could help? Tips would be much appreciated.
