I build my own computers, including my most recent build a Hackintosh. I am new to tablets though. Want to get one going for my 84 year mother to do a few things with. I have been to Coby's site and they don't even tell you how to reset the clock. I have downloaded a couple of apps, and kept two. Two others simply didn't get the job done. I would like to get a few on the home page for Mom, so she can punch one button and get right to what she wants to do.

Stuff like about you can use.. Also what you type here can help the rest of us including myself figure out how to best help you with your issues or etc.

Hi,
My name is Courtney. I just received the Kyros MID1042-8. This is my first tablet and Im hating it right now because it didnt come with Google Play. I found this site while searching for a way to get it and all Ive seen is ROOT, ROOT,ROOT. I understand this can be risky if not done correctly so im kind of leery. Never the less here I am. I havent done anything to my tablet yet and if I cant get any help im thinkiing of returning it although I really dont want to. Looking forward to absorbing some knowledge.

Hello Everyone,

I'm a medium skill level user, with a yearning to get the most out of my Kyros.

I found KTZ, while searching for Firmware upgrades for the Kyros as it stopped working with AppsLib and the Nook App, and Coby.com said it was a discontinued product.

I own a Kyros MID7015 4GB

I just finished rooting it to "gingerbread" 2.3.1 and I'm loking for 2.3.3
I have not installed CLockwork or KTZ . . . not sure what they are/why I want to, happy to learn more.

I've had the Kyros now for just over 2 years, primarily use it for reading books but it sat for several months not being used and now everything is out of date . . . grrr. My 9yr old bought a Nexus7 which rekindled my desire to get the most out of my Kyros. I understand the 2.3.3 Android version is now the best way to go and I'm hoping to find more info on how to get there.

I found KTZ because of some recovery I heard they have...didn't know the community was this large!

Yes, I own 2 Kyros MID7120s.

Yes, they are both rooted with SuperSU.

I haven't installed ClockWork or KTZ yet, but trying to find one for my tablets.

I own a couple others, but these are just for my kids

I believe I'm on GB, 2.3.3

I found this site while surfing for a solid way to root my sisters-in-laws MID 7014

This is the thing: it seems that android 2.3 or at least the one installed on this particular coby does not support WPS or push button security for wifi which is what she needs in order to acess internet access where she lives. the idea is root it update rom to whatever is needed to support that function and give it back all shiny. i figure there would be a lot of resources here for that venture... feel me?

no it was 2.3.3 before it crashed.

I'm looking for the stock rom to factory my 7012 to make sure the tablet still works before I jump on getting the PowerCode Rom.

I worked in general construction for 25 yrs until I became disabled. Now I spend my time painting still life and landscapes paintings. I have 2 grown kids and 5 beautiful grands. I live with my disabled wife of 29 years of marriage and 32 years of togatherness and happiness. I'm a novice with my kyros android.

Hi. I'm Jon.

I have a Kyros MID7015. I found KTZ looking to
upgrade the OS. My tablet is rooted and I'm currently running a
version of Android 2.3.4 (GINGERBREAD.GBV1096W.160dpi.KTZ) that I got
here.

I want to use my tablet for remote control of my Canon T4i
DSLR but sadly my tablet believes it is an HTC Flyer and Play won't let
me download the software available. I haven't given up; it's merely on
the back burner.

I originally found this site while looking to upgade my Kyros 7015.

I have rooted the tablet and upgraded it to 2.3.4.

I've installed Clockwork Recovery.

This was my first foray into using an Android tablet. I got the Kyros fairly cheap, and I was delighted to find this site with its support by hobbyists.

Now I've got a Motorola Atrix phone and a Motorola Xoom table.

My next thing is to root the phone so that I can recalibrate the #$%#%@ battery.

I'm dchilljr - found KTZ while googling "Coby 8038 system dump." Just got my tablet today, and after rooting it, I found that I couldn't get CWM to mount /sdcard/ - So I tried adb push commands to get zip files to internal memory, but still can't install them since /sdcard/ won't mount. Tablet is stuck in bootloop. Any suggestions?

Tablet is rooted and using a modded ROM now but it is very slow. Looking to fix the speed and increase performance with networking.

Hello im lisa really new at this but i just got a coby kyros mid 8125 and im looking to learn to root it. Ive never rooted anything or had a tablet so this will be a fun adventure. no I believe both on 2.3.7 IC4 Formula 1 160 ROM, at least for now.

Have been away for quite awhile. Been working 7 days a week almost all year, little time to check in. Generally run GNU/Linux on desktop. Last time checked in I believe were improvements to the flashing method, making it OS neutral.

i am mcoff7 and i found ktz by searching google. i own a KYROS MID7015 and no other tablets, i have not yet rooted it but that is the reason i joined this site. since it is not rooted yet i do not have any recovery systems in place yet, i have never owned a previous tablet and yes i am still running Android OS 2.1.

more of a hardware tech. not much into coding, but can usually hold my own in understanding.
I like to learn. enjoy a challenge.
still type with 2 or 3 fingers.
not bad with soldering iron, smd, and small fine work.
so far i like android.
run pc's with xp and 7. laptops and desktops. have many!
still good in pure dos.
have moto droid m fone. rooted and jelly bean.

Hello!

I'm Corbald, new to Tablets in general.
I got a Kyros 7014 and this address from a family member this x-mas.
I have a ton of experience in computers, but I'm having a heck of a time with this tablet. She sent it to me pre-rooted, but loaded with her own info, which has caused me a world of trouble.... I have no idea how to restore this thing to factory, or how to re-root it once it's in that state. I'd like it to be in the same state it was in when I got it, but with my own google info.

OS is 2.3.3, IIRC. Been trying to find a compatible ROM for an update or anything that'll allow me to access the Google Play Store, but with no luck... I'm not sure what I'm even looking for, really. Tinkering around has, apparently, borked my /system/etc/permissions to the point that I can't seem to even use ES Explorer as root anymore. Talk stopped working as well.

I must say I'm at a loss... If anyone could point me in the right direction (or explicit, step-by-step instructions would be great, too ;D ) that'd be awesome!

I am a former Apple fanboi switching over to Android. I have a galaxy SIII phone and a couple of low end android tablets my newest being the kryos mid 7036. I'd like to root it and get google play on it for the apps. From there the sky is the limit!
