tipstir wrote:Not going to work right without the correct drivers. That's the biggest issue is drivers. Sure you can put the ICS on 1GHz and 512MB but without the drivers you'll be dead in the water. COBY doesn't care about upgrades they just come out with tablets that can run the newer OS. But everyone does the same. COBY Policy is no upgrades in the OS whatever the tablet OS comes with it that's it.. So for those of us that were stuck with OS 2.1 we not have OS 2.3.3 thanks to me. But to go higher is where the issue has been.
tipstir wrote:Drivers for Touch screen, for WiFi, for things in that nature will be effected. The only way to do this is if the OEM not COBY has it already. But most of them left off at OS 2.3.3. Then decided to come out with a newer hardware and OS. Just way to many models used by COBY and they're still at it.
corby_wonder wrote:Sorry ktakis, think it won´t work with mine from the 1126.
And be glad, strung3, it´s not stabil and l would love to go back to GB. Think I have to find a way during the next days...or change to bulldog!!!
@tipstir: therefor I need your help...please!!!!
tipstir wrote:COBY Euro and COBY USA are different models.
COBY USA is models are only WiFi only
COBY Euro is 3G, Bluetooth and WiFi
Drivers will be an issue or not since they have the 7022, 8125, 1125 and 1126. The only issue.
Serial number is mostly going to be for USA, if you can get it to work strung3 would be interesting for you guys to have a non-rooted tablet. You might have to use the 7042 method to get the root going.
WiFi is Atheros
ar6000 802.11b/g 2.4GHz 20MHz Signal Band in current models 7010, 7012, 7015, 7015A, 7015B, 7016, 7120, 7125, 7126, 8125, 8126, 1125, 1126
ar6003 802.11a/b/g/n 2.4GHz 20/40MHz Dual Band in the newer models 7033, 7035, 7042, 8042, 9042, 9742, 1042
If COBY France going to issue a release that's great. If COBY UK, COBY USA this one really needs to get everyone a release. I doubt the 800MHz / 256MB would get the release. If China would release the release would be better to get it and don't go through all these serial numbers.
ktakis wrote:Maybe the German version of the 1126 has a different Wifi chipset and therefore you have these problems.
tipstir wrote:Well as you can see 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 are what is out now. They still have issues with Ice Cream just like they did with Honeycomb. Gingerbread will be the last good one to use. Frankly everything works with Gingerbread.
Gingerbread image for 1126 you'll have to hunt for that one. Since your in Germany then contact COBY Germany maybe someone can help you out.. To restore to the prior one.
Like I said those who make this more, just beware that your not rooted and your using the plain stock ROM..

promek17 wrote:so far from what ive read you need to have CWM installed first
then root using an exploit from jcase from ATN http://www.mediafire.com/?4dcgkevdiy63zp7
after that see if this gapps package works for you
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
these are all pushed through CWM i believe
I only gathered the info Ktakis and corby please test to see if this on the right track
you can follow more progress at ATN look for ICS 7022
tipstir wrote:Yeah on the 7042 has a block on the core kernel that's set to =1 which needs to be set to =0 to enable full Root. I have to try good old fashion magic that that one. Otherwise I won't be able to over clock it. ICS 4.0.4 this is my version of 4.0.3 although 4.0.4 and 4.0.5 out there..
If you got ICS on your 7022 and want Bulldog Platinum for it let me know.. I'll need a few things. Right now I get 670MB free on the 7042 using FMR it's 730MB free. Prior to Bulldog Titanium ECON 20 it was 430-500MB. Best out of the 512MB should be this..
promek17 wrote:It seems are friends at ATN have succeded in installing ICS on the 7022 with root and Gapps. Also they report CWM is intact

Thanks and Credit to Filipicamo and piratesscareme over at android tablets.net
We now have a fully working flashable zip for ics. The following are instructions:
1. Download ICS update zip here: http://min.us/mbdiioVlGp and place on sdcard, insert sdcard into tablet.
2. Start 7022 in CWM Recovery.
3. Make a backup.
4. wipe data/Factory reset in CWM recovery.
5. Under mounts Format Boot and system.
6. Return to main menu, Go to install zip from sdcard.
7. Select choose zip from sdcard.
8. Select mid7022_ICS_Update.zip
9. Say yes.
10. Now you have ICS.
without Filipicamo this would not be possible. He is the one who found the update left on his system. I have added root and gapps. Also with superuser being installed on this it will leave your recovery intact. I have tested this on my tablet and it worked. As always nothing is guaranteed.
nastypup wrote:I just transferred a bunch of files from my PC to the 7042's SD card and I can't find them. The movies, videos and music are recognized so I know the files are there and the SD card is functioning properly. Where do I go to view files on the 32 gb SC card?
ktakis wrote:Yeah i think development of ICS is the next step, right now the biggest problem i have is the DPI, it was set by default to 120, i tried 160 but i get problems with the original launcher and some apps, i set it to 170 now but it still does not seem right.
You need a full image or CW backup will suffice ? let me know what you need and i will extract, mayeb it can be used to tailor a ICS version for our 7015 users, that would be a blast !
Other then that i am glad i got ICS and root done on this tablet, i was about to buy a 7042 but why waste the money, now we know why cobyusa will not release a official update.tipstir wrote:Yeah on the 7042 has a block on the core kernel that's set to =1 which needs to be set to =0 to enable full Root. Hi promek17,
What do you mean when you say :"Also with superuser being installed on this it will leave your recovery intact" ?
piratesscareme wrote:Nastypup, how long did you wait on the android screen before you stopped it? It can take a long time on the first boot. Also make sure you wipe everything before you flash it. The only thing that I can think of is maybe it was corrupted somewhere while downloading it.
This is Android 4.0.3
I did a full restore to 2.3.3 on my tablet and then flashed using the zip to ensure it worked. I will help in anyway I can. ICS is a little buggy as it does occasionally freeze or reboot but overall it is a great OS. Even with its bugs I like it much more than GB. The HDMI does not work.
piratesscareme wrote:ok, Here is a longer way of doing the same way.....
Flash this after a full wipe https://www.rapidshare.com/#!download|225|139142288|coby_mid7022-ota-0001.zip|84173
this is the update from coby.
Download
http://www.mediafire.com/?4dcgkevdiy63zp7 and http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Place these on tablets sd card.
then reboot and enter fastboot mode
then download this http://www.mediafire.com/?4dcgkevdiy63zp7 and extract it. place the recovery.img in your android sdk platform tools folder. flash using command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" from command prompt in your sdk directory. Hopefully you have used adb before. This puts your recovery back on the tablet.
then reboot and immediately enter recovery mode. Don't let the system boot or you will lose recovery.
in recovery wipe cache and then advanced/delvik cache
then flash the jcase zip and the gapps zip
this will give you ICS with root, recovery, and play store.
Hopefully you do not have to go through all of this and a simple reflash from the zip I made will fix it. Also try just reseting the tablet from the boot loop. It might just need to be reset. Let me know how things go.
piratesscareme wrote:Just in case you need it here is the link to the first file again. I also tried it. something is wrong with it. Maybe this one will work.
every time i put the link in here it directs to adfly.
