I am Lemwepon. I currently own a kyros mid7127 tablet that is rooted and has clockwork installed. My first tablet was a gentouch78 which I did root and update to latest level, but found there is no coming development coming fron augen and so i learned adb commands and things with it. I am frustrated with the format of at least these 2 tablets as they seem to be limited platform based on cpu and inability to upgrade to newer android releases as a result. So I will chill on this for awhile as my (unintentional)efforts so far have frustrated and angered some members of this forum. I will return to using my mid7127 to read kindle books and play games and persue learning more about linux releases
and hopefully release the stranglehold microsoft has on my pc, laptop etc.

Hi there I just recent bought a Kyros 7127 from a co-worker. I have been an avid Android fan since I came out and was almost ready to change cell carriers a few years back when Verizon finally let me get a HTC Eris. Since then I have proclaimed my love of Android to any who would listen (which to most of them was not a surprise since I have long been a Google fanboy). Regardless I now tote around a Droid R2D2 and have dug into the nooks and crannies of rooting and just enjoying the freedom it allows. Needless to say when I got my 7127 on Monday I had it rooted with clockwork installed withing 15 min and then set about to find a rom to flash as the stock rom seems to be lacking severely. That is what lead me here. It has been very refreshing to find such an active community of tablet users and a great wealth of information. I made my first donation yesterday and I am trying my best to patiently await my response to my request for the Bulldog Gold rom. It looks awesome and I can't wait to get it up and running on my new tablet. The thing that seems so impressive here is the sheer awesomeness of tipstir who seems to have singlehandedly (at least on outward appearance, no offense meant to anyone else who helps keep this place awesome, it just seems like I see the name tipstir on just about everything here), created something of such value to so many people.

Anyway, I am going to go back to tinkering while I anxiously await the chance to flash Bulldog and turn this thing into the awesomeness it is meant to be!

My Name is Drooseg, i have just joined i bought a Kyros MId7015 on craigslist before doing my research and would like to try and make this POS better before i just throw it away. i have been around the Android OS since t-mobile came out with the G1 but have never tried to root any of my devices. I am looking for some help on how to get the process started. I am not sure what is wrong with this device...i have downloaded the update.zip file to the root of my sd card and followed the directions step by step mkany times to upload it to the tablet and have had no succeess. nsupposably the tablets model # will read MID7015a when the update has been installed but not mine grrrrrrr! please help!!!!! if this is something i can skip by rooting the device i may declare today a national holiday lol.

Just joined here. I'm Stuart (but used Essjayar as a username for ages) . Found this site because I was looking for custom firmware for a Kyros MID1126 I bought while on holiday in the Canary Islands.

I've rooted it with SuperOneClick via ADB and already had installed Market and some other Google apps with a non-root method (basically just copying some apks to the system directories). So it's got superuser and busybox installed ok, now just need a recovery kernel to install. I assume theres some kind of bootloader - I read somewhere that the usual power on + home (or whatever) might not work? An app called Super Manager (task killer/cache cleaner/etc etc) has a reboot menu for recovery/bootloader etc on its widget, save using the ADB reboot commands.

Anyway I've previously had Android phones since the HTC Hero, then HTC Nike, Sony Xperia X10 Mini, and currently a Samsung Galaxy S2 (still awesome after more than a year, some feat with the speed these are released!). As for tablets, I have a Zenithink ZT-280, rooted etc and running ICS but it's only a resistive touchscreen. A pity, some nice components in there but very shoddy workmanship, weak speakers, mic, etc. It's being held together with tape, hairclips and a power cable wired direct to the battery terminals :-)

So the Coby is a nice fresh start and ideal for web browsing, ebook reading (and Zinio for mags + Currents (which I love) if I can get the apk). Not to forget Angry Birds Space and Plants Vs Zombies!

Sadly there doesnt seem to be much help on the Kyros machines but they were in all the electronics shops in the Canaries lol. Ive sent for the rom so ill just the find a kernel and let you know how it goes on

Oh no, I have not been a 2.1 for about two years now. Which was about a month after I had gotten the Coby. My Software writing skills are limited to mostly scripts in Perl, or even bourne, I am pretty decent hands-on hardware wise but actually make a living in Info Security. I took C courses years ago but have not spent time in it. I have recently modified a Linksys WRT-300n with DD-WRT and that went well and a few years ago replaced the native OS on a Early Ipod with an Opensource package I can't remember.

I look forward to seeing whats being done here to maximize these inexpensive tablets.

I was on another forum following the escapades of Sony and tryng to root it. I was not awar the games Google and the OEM play with us buyers this thing is crap the way it comes. Sony told me about one site that did have apps that downloaded with black listing the tablet brand

And how come we have to pay for roms now? what gives im starting to get pretty sad i recieved this tablet. guys are hoarding all the information and not sharing. Then you want COBY to give you more money for being a vendor. yes i understand your spending alot of time on this but so have other people. Im willing to spend the money but the support doesnt seem there in my opinion. I have a Coby Kyros MID7015 for about 2yrs and has not used it for about 1yr. Recently i have looked into see if the MID7015 can be updated to any latest android firmware to make ist better and use it. I found this website through youtube of some upgrading the Kyros 7015. I see it can be done but firmware is needed.

The Kryos has been root with ClockworkMod recovery 5 installed. with Eclair 2.1 android firmware.

I had it at one point in time, but it seems the crappy ROM I have installed removed it.

I did own a Gateway laptop with a touchscreen, if that counts.

No, I am currently on Android OS 2.3.1, but am planning on upgrading to a 2.3.3 ROM soon.
