Been looking for a case for my kyros / kyroses / kirii. For the kids, I just used adhesive backed velcro and attached their kyros 7012s to the inside of a journal notebook (leatherbound, removable paper, Staples ~$15). Case is a bit oversized, but works alright. Much better than the sleeve that comes out of the box.
For my Kyros (also a 7012), I found that a blackberry playbook flip case / stand just about fits the kyros. The rubber lip/edge holds the kyros in place decently, there is a gap at one of the long edges, but I use that to keep a stylus in place (large stylus for Nintendo DSi XL). The rubber edge may work a little bit better if a low heat work to be applied to soften the plastic/rubber a bit before putting the Kyros in place.
OF COURSE the buttons and ports don't line up. An exacto knife / razor blade will be needed to cut out the rubber surround on the black berry case. But, it will work. A narrow rectangular slit along the top for the volume / power button, and a small rectangular hole for the USB port, another for headphone jack.
1 caveat though, depending on the exact way that the uSD card sits, the tail edge of the card may protrude just slightly beyond the Kyros case and catch on the edge of the rubber surround when inserting the Kyros.
I will post a picture later today after I am done modding the bb case.
Oh, Staples has the blackberry case on clearance right now for $19, the blackberry journal case is $14, but the kyros 7012 doesn't fit into is as well. The case seems to be a less tolerant of the curve on the kyros backshell than the flip stand case is.
